The director of Internationalization and Innovation at La Salle-URL and executive president of La Salle Technova, the innovation park at La Salle Campus Barcelona, Josep M. Piqué, has been appointed as the new president of the Triple Helix Association (THA), the international non-governmental and non-profit organization that works to promote good interaction between academia, industry and government. The members of the THA voted in September and, unanimously, Josep M. Piqué was appointed as the new president of the organization.
As the new head of the organization, Josep M. Piqué, in collaboration with the association's Executive Committee, has conceived the new strategic and operational plan for the THA, which wishes to continue to be a key player in promoting interactions between academy-industry-government (triple helix) to promote technological innovation and economic growth. The THA fights for the advancement of scientific knowledge and for the promotion of research, innovation, economic competitiveness and development, aspects that are linked to some of the distinguishing features of La Salle-URL.
The association organizes conferences, events, talks and other activities to bring to the table issues of interest, such as the governance of associations dedicated to innovation in the post-pandemic world, which will be the central theme of the 20th Triple Helix Association Conference that will take place place in June 2022 in Florence. The meeting will reflect on the importance of the co-creation of knowledge and collaboration mechanisms between the actors that make up the innovation ecosystems with the aim of building new sustainable paths and developing the well-being of society.
