Subirà, born in Mataró in 1940 and son of a family of industrialists, was a consultant for companies such as Cepsa, Nestlé, IBM and ACESA, and counselor of numerous organizations, of which the presidency of the Catalan Institute of Consume, the Catalan Institute of Technology, Tourism of Catalonia and the International Fair of Barcelona.
With an intense political activity, to which he applied his engineering knowledge, Subirà was one of the ideologues and founders of the Democratic Convergence of Catalonia, a member of CiU in Parliament in the first four legislatures of democracy, spokesman for this parliamentary group, and Industry Minister.
