La Salle Campus has a classroom dedicated to construction materials that supports physical training in areas as construction, building facilities and structures, as well as material knowledge, their real commercial dimensions and the possibility of manipulation as in a construction site. This Materials laboratory is open to all architecture and engineering students providing them in first hand with information about the elements and construction systems. On the shelves of room Q9 we can find a good amount of frequently used construction materials. Due to space limitations this is not yet an exhaustive collection, but will be increasing over time depending on materials and additional space availability.
TWO TYPES OF MATERIAL: INVENTORIED AND ASSEMBLABLE
There are two types of materials; inventoried and labelled materials in one side, and on the other side, other materials that are duplicated and that have been inventoried but not labelled and are used to assemble constructive elements in the classroom. These material are grouped and identified in separated shelves labelled as “APAREARSE”
ORGANIZATION OF MATERIAL
All elements have been inventoried and classified so any material, system, structure, etc can easily be found.
CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM
The classification system is based on:
- Materials families depending on the constructive system and on the chronological execution of the construction, according NTE standard, updated and completed.
CLASSROOM INFORMATION
At the classroom the following are available:
- Complete classification and inventory of materials and their data sheets.
- Information on shelves labels to locate the different sections.
MATERIAL INFORMATION
Each material sample or group of material samples has its own adhesive label attached. The following information is included in the label:
- Complete code indicating location on the shelves.
- General inventory identification number.
- QR code with all material characteristics included in the General Inventory. General Inventory includes QR code, identification number and a brief description of each material.
