Baile con la muerte receives two nominations at the Fugaz Awards

The short film, created by La Salle-URL alumni and produced by Brooder Lab, has already earned more than 23 awards and highlights the emerging talent fostered on campus

Baile con la muerte, created by alumni of the Animation & VFX Degree at La Salle-URL, has been nominated in two categories at the 2026 Fugaz Awards, Spain’s most prestigious short film awards: Best Animated Short Film and Best Short Short Film. This recognition, which coincides with the awards’ tenth anniversary, comes after Baile con la muerte narrowly missed a nomination for the Goya Awards.

The short film was produced by Brooder Labs, the emerging talent incubator in animation, VFX, and digital arts promoted by La Salle-URL. Baile con la muerte has enjoyed a successful run, collecting more than 23 national and international awards and establishing itself as one of the leading animation works in Spain over the past year.

The project was directed by Carlota Massó, a La Salle-URL graduate, and created by a team of ten additional alumni from the Animation & VFX Degree at La Salle-URL: Berta Alsinet, Paula Anglas, Núria Aranda, Martina Berney, Joan Cortit, Laia Domene, David Martín, Roger Menta, Víctor Moya, and Gisela Torres.

More than 600 short films were submitted for this tenth edition of the 2026 Fugaz Awards, with over 1,800 audiovisual industry professionals participating in the selection process. The final nominations included 111 works across 21 categories, reaffirming the importance of these awards as one of Spain’s leading recognitions for short films.

The awards ceremony will take place on June 22 in Madrid at the Kinépolis Ciudad de la Imagen cinemas. This recognition highlights the creative talent, narrative innovation, and audiovisual excellence of the team behind the project.
