Coinciding with the start of the academic year, every year students and alumni of the Degree in Animation & VFX at La Salle Campus Barcelona, founding member of Universitat Ramon Llull, gather for their very own première, La Salle Animation Talents, to screen their final projects on the big screen, joined by their families, classmates, professors, and audiovisual industry professionals. This year, the Aribau Cinema in Barcelona hosted an event that was attended by more than 850 people and where eight projects from the Class of 2025 were presented:
- Nowhere
- Out Cold
- Vampire Blues
- Letras Pedidas
- Davi
- Ramen for Two
- Tales from East
- Sweet Dreams
In addition, La Salle Animation Talents brought together alumni from previous cohorts to share insights about their time on campus, their first steps in the professional world, and projects such as Beauty, Ventanas, Missing Pieces, and Genethic.
The event also featured alumni currently showcasing their projects at film festivals around the world with the support of Brooder Lab, the content and talent incubator for emerging animation, VFX, and digital arts born at La Salle Campus Barcelona. Representatives from the teams behind the short films Beyond the Grave, Arnold Dupin, and Baile con la muerte —which has accumulated several awards and selections at festivals around the world, some of them qualifying for the Goya Awards— shared their experiences with current students and industry professionals. Among those present were Mike Blackman, CEO of Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), one of the leading international events for audiovisual and technology, along with production companies such as Dneg, Savagetv, El Ranchito, Rocket Frames, Mediapro, Rodar y Rodar, and Cubica VFX.
“Today we haven’t just seen final degree projects, we’ve seen stories, dreams, and futures in the making. And plenty of talent. The creativity and passion you’ve shared and that we’ve witnessed in these works show your ability to move audiences, as well as your unique, open, and innovative vision, capable of transforming reality into images that endure,” said Josep M. Santos, General Director of La Salle-URL, during the closing remarks.
This year’s event also marked the 10th anniversary of the Degree in Animation and VFX, the first university degree in animation in Catalonia. A demo reel showcasing projects from across the past decade was presented during the session. The program builds on La Salle-URL’s tradition and expertise in engineering studies while integrating a strong artistic dimension, responding to the growing demand of the animation industry both nationally and internationally.
