Between February 27 and March 2, a new edition of 4 Years From Now (4YFN) is held at the Fira de Barcelona, the great startup event linked to the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the most influential in the world. La Salle-URL participates through the CowtalkPro project that researchers are developing together with the startup Animal Welfare Education Center (AWEC), which has its own stand. Some of the La Salle-URL researchers who are working on the project will attend to explain and value the initiative. The project is financed by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) with funds from the European Next-Generation-EU program, and has the support of the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

CowTalkPro proposes the development of an acoustic sensor to detect vocalizations of dairy cows and thus be able to monitor the welfare of the animals. The objective is to identify problems in the welfare of calves and cows through technology and, in this way, help farmers. The solution is based on placing acoustic sensors in the pens and, through sound analysis, identify respiratory diseases in calves, detect the moment of calving of cows or pain during milking. The initiative recently won the award for the best project of the AI4ALL program, which recognizes the best artificial intelligence ideas applied to the industry.

During the 4YFN, the La Salle-URL researchers will explain how the CowTalkPro project technology they propose allows early detection of problems, which are reported through a mobile application to facilitate early intervention and minimize the impact on well-being, while improving production. This applied artificial intelligence project is an indicator of the good research and knowledge transfer work of La Salle-URL.
