Joan Miquel Torta Margalef

PhD. Degree in Physics at the University of Barcelona (Spain) in 1991. Senior Scientist of the ´Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas´ (CSIC) and Full Professor of the Ramon Llull University at the Ebro Observatory. He was the Director of this Institute from 2001 to 2009. Presently he is the Chief of the Research Group on Geomagnetism and Aeronomy. He has been the Spanish National Correspondent for IAGA during the years 1999-2000 and Chief Delegate during the last nine General IAGA/IUGG Assemblies, in Birmingham, Hanoi, Sapporo (in this one for IUGG as well), Toulouse, Perugia, Sopron, Melbourne, Mérida and Prague. PI of several research projects of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology, and of several contracts with the industry. He is author or co-author of more than 100 scientific papers (62 of them in journals indexed in Scopus) and more than 100 communications in scientific meetings.
