Cristina Gamboa is an architect. She studied at ETSAB, and University of Stuttgart. She has focused on researching participative approaches to design on cooperative housing tested through on-going projects. She currently teaches at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) in London, and at the ETSAB in Barcelona. She also taught as a Visiting Lecturer at the RCA. She is one of the founding members of Lacol, an architects cooperative that works with architecture for social transformation, as a tool to intervene in the immediate environment in a critical way. Lacol has been awarded with several recognitions (guardian at the Mostra d´Arquitectura Catalana de Barcelona, Ciutat de Barcelona Prize 2018, Prize BBConstrumat on built architecture 2018, AJAC Prize 2018) and has been selected in the biennials of architecture in Venice (2016, 2021), Buenos Aires (2017) and San Sebastián (2019).
