Joel Montané Mogas

Joel Montané Mogas is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences Blanquerna, Universitat Ramon Llull. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and has developed his research career in international institutions such as the University of British Columbia and IDIBAPS. His early research focused on pancreatic beta-cell dysfunction in diabetes, leading to several publications in high-impact journals.
He currently leads research lines on the impact of physical activity in chronic diseases, particularly Parkinson’s disease and diabetes, integrating innovative approaches such as artificial intelligence and data analytics. He is principal investigator of several competitive national and international projects and coordinates initiatives aimed at improving exercise adherence and population health.
He has authored over 30 scientific publications and regularly participates in international conferences. He leads the Biomedicine and Nutrition area within the SAFE research group, recognized by the Catalan government. His work also includes knowledge transfer with industry and the development of technological solutions in health.
Committed to education, he has supervised doctoral theses and numerous undergraduate and master’s projects, and contributes to academic program coordination. His profile combines research, teaching, and innovation with a strong focus on clinical and societal impact.
