Architect (1970) by the ETSAB (UPC). PhD in Architecture (1983) by the UPC, with a dissertation on `Mass housing and the making of Metropolitan Barcelona´ Tutor: Prof. Manuel de Solà Morales.
National Award on Urbanism, 1983, Ministery of Urbanism and Public Works, Central Government, Madrid.
From 1974 to 1976 he was a member of the team in charge of the General Metropolitan Plan of Barcelona (PGM 1976).
He has been teaching Urbanism at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia between 1974 and 1986, and at the Ramon Llull University, Barcelona, since 2000 and up to now. Additionally, he was a visiting professor at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore (1987) and has been invited at several European and American universities. Since 2008 he is a member of the Board with the International Urban Fellows Association (IUFA).
He served as a Director of Housing and Heritage with the City of Barcelona (1988-1992), Vice-Director of the Centre of Urban Studies of Barcelona (1993-2000) and Director of Urbanism with the de City of Badalona (2000-2003).
