For more than a decade, the financial industry has been undergoing a major disruption with the arrival of new entrants who, with the use of technology and innovative business models, are challenging the status quo.
This innovation is divided in this course into two large blocks. In the first one, we will describe and go deeper into the new entrants known as fintechs. The different verticals (neobanks, wealthtech, paytechs or financing fintechs, among others) and we will discuss the technology they use.
The course also serves to learn about the new business models introduced by fintechs and the new open banking paradigm that both fintechs and traditional banking are facing. In this course you will also learn how to design a fintech and its business model, as well as understand key concepts of entrepreneurship, validation processes and fintech investment such as the fundraising process and valuation methods.
The second block of the course is organized around blokchain technology and the new paradigms it introduces in the financial sector. Starting from the basics of this technology, we will learn about the main use cases both in the financial sector and in the new business models introduced by decentralized finance, from the design of a DeFi application and the token economy that can make it sustainable to the financing of projects in blockchain via ICOs and the different operations that can be carried out in decentralized finance.
