These lines are developed with close contact with the media industry: it has developed signalling and data remultiplexing units for the catalan broadcaster TV3 and the national broadcasting operator Abertis Telecom, for the nation-wide Spanish DVB-T network. In 2004 the centre started its activities in the DVB-H by developing the IP encapsulator and signalling platform that was afterwards commercialized by the company SIDSA. The system has been used to provide official DVB-H streams for DVB in many international events as IBC and 3GSM/MWC. The platform has been also extended to support DVB-SH broadcasting. More recently, the center has developed a DVB-T2 gateway that has been successfully tested in the DVB plug fest. The Digital TV research line has participated in many research projects related to digital broadcasting, many of them at the European level (GMF4iTV, WING-TV, SUIT, PORTIVITY, B21C, HERMES, Engines) and has collaborated with key players in the field of media (RAI, Teamcast, Dibcom, Nokia, Elektrobit, IRT, Siemens, Abertis Telecom, SIDSA, Alcatel Lucent, ..). It also has access to the relevant standardisation bodies as MPEG and DVB.
