The Computer networks area has been working from several years now on Smart Electricity Networks, Ambient Assisted Living, Cloud Computing, Real Time communication computer networks (for critical systems), Smart Grids and Traceability. The group has focused on communication management and security, quality service and in routing and topology control.
|
|
Communication management and security main topics are described as:
- Authorization and access control.
- Authentication and user identification.
- Consistency check of information.
- High availability.
- Non transactional repudiation.
|
|
The quality service related topics are:
- SLA/SLS.
- Delay and response time.
- Band and network sizing.
- Traffic engineering.
|
|
Finally, our expertise at routing and topologic control include:
- Non-homogeneous networks (QoS aware).
- QoS indicators/Network security.
- IPv4/IPv6 routing.
- Unicast, multicast and broadcast (WSN).
- Link and network level analysis.
|
|
An example of application of these topics is the Smart Grid domain, which needs to consider all these elements on an heterogeneous environment.
