The research in the sector of the information and communication technologies (ICT) is one of the key current challenges, as far as it promises to offer great benefits to the society. The increasing number of national initiatives designed to foster and fund the research and the development of the new technologies, as well as the specifically designed European programs to this purpose are just an example. One of the areas which has received special attention is the field of health. A key topic in the field of medicine and health science, which has received special attention in the last few years, is the methodology employed through the investigation process. The maturity in the scientific field, jointed with the improvement on medical analysis technologies, permits the acquisition of precise data (indexes, numerical values or images among others) that contribute to describe the patients' state. Consequently, laboratory tests  nowadays result in the generation of large amounts of data that need to be processed in order to extract novel and useful information and to discover patterns or trends in the data that can be used to further improve the quality of the diagnoses.

The objective of this master's degree is to provide the student with an extensive knowledge on analysis tools and data mining, thus enabling him to extract novel, useful and interesting knowledge from the data which result from medical analyses. The objective  of this master is to provide its students with the pedagogic and didactic skills that they need in order to become a Secondary Teacher. Upon finishing this master, the student will be able to carry out training in any secondary program within the catalan learning system, which may be ESO (Educación Secudnaria Obligatoria), FP (Formación Profesional) or any Language Training.

The master in Secondary Teacher Training is aimed to any student who has an engineering degree or any technology related studies and can also access a master degree. This master, which is jointly managed with Blanquerna, is unique in the URL. The evaluation process is solely carrierd out by analyzing the final skills of its students, thus incorporating a high techological level within its learning and evaluation techniques.
