Facilities

The Electronics and Telecommunications Department (DEC) has at the disposal of the students and companies the following laboratories:

General Electronics Laboratories

They are thought and designed as general Electronics laboratories. There are 2 and they count with 20 work places each (with a 90m2 surface each), and they equipped with the following material: a double-channel analogue oscilloscope, two generators of independent functions, a high provision digital multimeter, two adjustable power supplies for tension and maximum power, +12 V and +5V power supplies, a training plafond for prototype set-up, and the electronic components of multiple values adapted to this plafond.

Digital Electronics Laboratories

They are thought to satisfy the necessities of digital Electronics set-up and similar subjects. There are 2 and they count with 16 and 19 work places respectively (with a total surface of 80m2 each), and they are equipped with the following material: a double-channel analogue oscilloscope, a generator of functions, a digital and an analogue multimeter, a generator of frequency impulses, width and «duty cycle» variable, a digital frequency meter, two power supplies for tension and maximum variable power, and a fix source of +15V and +5V.

Every place is equipped with a personal computer with the necessary software in order to programme microprocessors with assembler and to work with programmable devices (GAL y PAL). We also have devices for memory recording, programmable devices and microcontrollers.

Power and Control Electronics Laboratories

The material in this laboratory is thought to take in the assemblies of high power inside the field of Electronics, so much as those that make use of the elements of control or robotic elements, such as programmable automats or microcontrollers. There are 10 work places, all of them with a last-generation programmable automat, a double-channel digital oscilloscope, a generator of functions, a digital multimeter, a multiple power supply and a compatible PC connected to the automat. The laboratory has at its disposal microcontroller recorders, EPROMs eraser/recorder and microcontrollers emulator. It also has three robots that, besides their didactic value, give support to final degree Papers.

Electronic Measures Laboratory

It contains a series of measurement instruments which are continually uploaded. This allows to cover a great quantity of possibilities regarding the measure of physical magnitudes. The laboratory has 20 work places, all of them have specialised material of each concrete subject, between which we can enhance the followings:
  • Characterization of LED’s through integrating sphere.
  • Measure of the transistor’s parameters in small signal.
  • Analyzer of low and high frequency spectrums.
  • Study of transceptors of different bands.
  • Study of AD and DA converters.
  • Q-meter and analyzer of impedances.
  • Parametric analysis of electronic components and circuits’ evaluation.
  • Analyzer of networks until 6GHz.
  • Measures about amplifiers.
  • Transmission lines and microwaves circuits.
  • Analysis of digital circuits with logic analyzers.
  • Electromagnetic compatibility, measure of conduces and radiated emissions.
  • Studies of digital oscilloscopes and applications.
  • Systems of acquisition and automatic control with GP-IB, PCI and others.

Radio and Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory

This laboratory carries out advising and engineering tasks, and tests of pre-certification on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). In order to be able to carry out the necessary measures, the laboratory counts with a semi anechoic camera, EMI receiver, spectrums analyzer, LISN, antennas and other elements.

In this laboratory we also do radio electric tests about radio communications equipment such as transmitters and radio receivers, digital modulators, characterization of antennas, etc.

Communications and Microwaves Laboratory

The laboratory wants to give a wide and current vision of the communication systems, contributing with the necessary means to reach the aims of the teaching section, investigation and technology transfer. It is equipped with the necessary material for the study of: Digital modulations: Generator of digital RF, RF channel simulator, a vectorial analyzer and other auxiliary elements.

Mobile communications: GSM, PCS, DCS-1800, UMTS and DECT analyzer.

Antennas: Spectrums analyzer, a computer and a positioning system.

Circuits and microwave systems: Network analyzer (20 GHz), noise measurement system, RF generator until 20 GHz, and other auxiliary elements.

Optoelectronics: Optical Reflectometer, analyzer of optical spectrums and a white light source.

Simulation and implementation of circuits: Simulator of radio frequency circuits and ADS microwaves (Advanced Design System).

Domotic Laboratory

This laboratory is a space dedicated to the development of domotic applications, using as main tool the LonWorks standard. There are computers connected through transducers to domotic networks working over several types of physical means (bearer powers, braided pair, IR,). Thus, we develop control and monitoring systems through the telephone, TV or directly from the PC, directly as well as remotely (modems use, Internet,).

Automatization Laboratory

It is equipped with an SMC flexible cell (FMS-200), which simulates an industrial production line. This cell includes six stations, transport and an artificial vision station. Each one of these stations is controlled by a Siemens S7-300 automat, connected between them through ProfiBus and MPI, and programmed from the correspondent PC. There are two stations that have Ethernet connection and most of the sensors use AS-i bus. Finally, we have at our disposal a Magelis graphic screen from which we can configure the piece that is manufactured and then govern the general control of the flexible cell.

Moreover, we have four tables for practice, which are equipped with the systems that Schneider Group offers for the control and design of industrial automatizations, such as pneumatic, motor control, sensors, fluid control, etc. And all this is complemented with a different programmable automat: Micro, Twido, Premium and Momentum all connected via Ethernet. We also count with the necessary instruments to control and monitor the energy consumption of the laboratory: PM500, Power Server 710 and Magelis graphic screens.
