'La Nit de les Telecomunicacions' recognizes Andreu Vilamitjana, graduated in Electronic Engineering from La Salle-URL as an outstanding personality

The 28th 'Nit de les Telecomunicacions i la Informàtica' has once again recognized some of the best professionals in the sector in Catalonia. Among the winners of this 2023 is Andreu Vilamitjana, alumni of La Salle-URL graduated in Electronic Engineering, winner of the Salvà i Campillo Award for outstanding personality. Vilamitjana, who is CEO of CISCO Spain, has been recognized for his contribution to promoting and disseminating the ICT and electronics sector.

The award jury has highlighted Vilamitjana's experience of more than 25 years in information technology (IT) and that under his direction CISCO has achieved the best results in its history and has announced the upcoming opening of a center in Barcelona of chip design, a key milestone for the sector in Europe. Andreu Vilamitjana is a member of the Corporate Board Council of La Salle Campus Barcelona and, since he graduated, he has maintained a collaborative relationship with the knowledge ecosystem of the campus.

The 'Nit de les Telecomunicacions i la Informàtica' is the major annual event of the information and communication technologies (ICT) sector in Catalonia and is jointly organized by the Catalan Association of Telecommunications Engineers (Telecos.cat) and the College of Computer Engineering of Catalonia (COEINF). The event was attended by the Consellera of the Presidency of the Generalitat, Laura Vilagrà; the Secretary for Digital Policies, Gina Tost; and the Secretary of Telecommunications and Digital Transformation, Sergi Marcén, among other personalities.

La Salle-URL has had a recurring role among the winners of La Nit in various editions, either through one of the professionals that make it up, former students or as a benchmark university center in the sector. In the 2021 edition, La Salle-URL received a double special recognition for the 30th anniversary of Computer Engineering studies and for the 20th anniversary of its innovation park, La Salle Technova.

In the 2023 edition, which had climate change and sustainability as its central theme, several more awards were given away to other professionals and institutions dedicated to empowerment, dissemination and innovation in the fields of electronics, ICT and the audiovisual.
