Objectives

Technology and computer science are present in all the business activities and sectors. In Catalonia, during the last academic year, 9 universities offered studies in Computer Engineering, which proves the big demand of these professionals, but also the importance of choosing appropriately the university where you want to study and that it has the most updated and differentiated education.

Computer Engineers are able to design, implement and keep informatics systems to solve the problems that companies have nowadays. So, they are professionals who work with the latest technologies and new products and that develop their functions in each sector of the economic activity.

As an IT Engineer, you will be able to work in Internet projects (web browsers, virtual communities, content administration, etc.), leisure (videogames, online games, etc.), interactive digital television, medicine, financial entities and banking, public administration, software companies, aeronautic automotive, energetic sector, pharmaceutics sector, etc.
 

Access Requirements

You can gain admittance to this Bachelor’s Degree:

  • From High School if you have passed the University Access Exam. (PAU for the name in Spanish)
  • From a Superior Level Training Cycle. (CFGS for the name in Spanish)
  • If you have started a Bachelor’s Degree and you want to continue studying it at La Salle (expedient transfer): if you have studied a degree that is not official in Spain, you must validate at least 30 credits, or obtain the equivalence on your academic credentials and do the University Access Exam (PAU) at the UNED, or accredit your studies by the UNED if you come from the EHEA.
  • If you are in possession of a university degree.
  • If you have done the University Access Exam for 25 years old or for 45 years old.
  • If you are a student from the European Union or from any country that has an international agreement that may apply to this situation: you have to fulfill the academic requirements to access to University that the educative system of the country you are studying in demands and accredit the University Access Exam (PAU) at la UNED (www.uned.es).

If you fulfill any of these requirements you can start the Admission Process of any of the courses at La Salle.

The Complementary Training Course for graduates in Technical Computer Engineering or Management Engineering in order to obtain the Degree in Computer Engineering is aimed at the technical Computer Engineers or Management Engineers that have more than two years of experience (since they had their technical degree) to facilitate their access to the new degree of Computer Engineering.

The course’s contents have been defined based on the new degree in Computer Engineering’s program and officially approved by ANECA, the University Council and the General Direction of Universities.

OBJECTIVES

The degree in Computer Engineering of the Ramon Llull University follows the recommendations established by the University Council in the session of December 4th, 2008 according to some paragraphs from the annex I of the Royal Decree 1393/2007, from October 29th that determines the order of the university official instruction, regarding to the report for the Computer Engineering official degree’s validation requirement.

The objectives achieved with this degree are:

 

  • Gain new knowledge and adequate techniques for the conception, development or operation of informatics systems.
  • Communicate effectively, oral and written, knowledge, procedures, results and ideas related to the ICT and computing, being aware of their social impact. 
  • Understand the social, ethic, professional and civil responsibility of a Computer Engineer's activity and his role in the field of ICT and computer science society.
  • Create and carry out computer projects using Engineering’s principles and methodologies.
  • To design, develop, evaluate and guarantee accessibility, ergonomics, usability and security of the systems, applications and computer services and its information according to the valid laws.
  • To define, evaluate and select hardware and software platforms for the development and implementation of applications and computer services of different complexity levels.
  • To have the mathematics, physics, economics and sociology basis necessary to interpret, select, asses and create new concepts, theories, uses and technological advances related with computer science and its application.
  • To create, develop and maintain systems and software applications using different engineering methods and programming languages according to the applications that will be developed preserving the quality level demanded.
  • To generate and develop systems or computer architectures, centralized or distributed, that integrates hardware, software and networks.
  • To propose, analyze, validate, interpret and install computing solutions in real situations in the different organization areas.
  • To produce, establish, organize and manage computer systems and services in business and institutional contexts in order to improve the trade processes, lead their execution and their improvement and asses their economic and social impact.

 

CONDITIONS AND PAPERS REQUIRED TO STUDY THE DEGREE IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING FOR TECHNICAL COMPUTER ENGINEERS

 

1. Conditions:

In order to gain the admittance to this degree is necessary to have at least two years of experience (since you have your technical degree) as technical computer engineer.


To gain the new Degree in Computer Engineering you must enroll, take and pass all the subjects of the complementary course, including the presentation of the Final Project, completing 60 credits ECTS.

This Engineering degree comprises the aspects of management and configuration of computer systems, as well as the development of applications and interconnection of different platforms, strengthening the contents of administration and architecture of computer and of information systems.

During their studies, students can also participate in real technology transfer or research projects in leading companies and technology.

  • For the multiple job opportunities the degree in Computer Engineering offers. 100% of our students find work by the end of their studies and the 60% find work in the companies where they have done their internship.

  • La Salle offers 7 different degrees in Engineering and the first year is common to all of them. Computer Engineering students carry out practical sessions with students from other specializations, allowing a broader, more complete and interdisciplinary training. You will also do practices with students from Business Management in the Campus, which will help you to develop skills and acquire new knowledge.
